Have you ever felt stuck in a rut at work? Even if you’re the business owner, the daily grind of “business as usual” can become monotonous. If you feel like you are on a hamster wheel, moving every day but not getting anywhere, you’re frustrated, maybe even burned-out…here are some tips for breaking free and moving your business forward.
Can’t see the forest for the trees? Sometimes the minutia of performing everyday tasks gets in the way of accomplishing your bigger goals. Remember to delegate when possible, so you can focus on the tasks that will move you from the status quo to something larger. This can be tough for business owners to do, but you are not getting the most out of your investment in your team if you’re not letting them take some of the smaller things off your plate.
Do something inspiring. If you’re feeling stuck at work, stop working. It may sound counterintuitive, but taking a break to do something that feeds your creativity or a unique interest can fuel your work productivity. It’s all about achieving the balance you need to be your best self…in all areas. This is true for your team as well. If you’re nose to the grindstone 100% of the time, something is going to suffer.
There’s more than one way to accomplish a goal. If you feel like you aren’t getting any closer to achieving something, map out a few different ways to do it. Sometimes you have to challenge convention to achieve your goals. Step away from your desk to chat with a coworker or peer for a different perspective. When we take the time to look at the same problem differently, you’ll often come away with at least one new solution to arrive at your goal, or even surpass it.
Don’t get stuck in a rut. Reach out if you need new strategies to accomplish your goals…big or small.
